I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience supporting people with the navigation of biopsychosocial stressors resulting from life changes, family violence, houselessness, substance use, tricky relationships, grief and loss, caregiving, and multiple forms of trauma.
I have authorization to perform Restricted Psychosocial Interventions as a Registered Clinical Social Worker through the Alberta College of Social Workers, which is regulated under the Alberta Health Professions Act. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.
My approach is anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, trauma-specific, and multi-modal, including Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFST), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I believe that all experiences of distress should be approached in context, and with genuine compassion.
My client focus includes adult and young adult individuals, couples, and military/first responders with concerns regarding symptoms of anxiety, depression, poor self-esteem, anger, chronic pain, and experiences of trauma.
Your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours all exist in multiple contexts.
Contexts continually shape us, and while certain contexts may not always be seeking balance, all parts of you will always seek balance in order to heal, to learn, and to grow.
Singular or multiple stressors can cause harmful changes to thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. No matter the context of your stressors, you are the expert on yourself, your needs, and your definition of balance.
Trauma-informed and anti-oppressive approaches require attention to all parts of you in context, and I will move with you in context through your process towards your definition of balance. My approach is gentle, honest, and direct.
